CEO of UK Top Teaching NHS Trust Joins GI Boards Print E-mail
 
Chief Executive, Tony Bell OBE has been appointed, to sit alongside other senior Strategic Advisory Board Directors at Government Interrelations, bringing with him huge passion and drive for Innovation in the NHS.

The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust was formed in April 1995 by the merger of the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital NHS Trust. The Trust is one of the largest and busiest hospital trusts in the North of England with an annual budget of over £300 million, more than 5000 staff and almost one million patients being seen every year. It employs approximately 300 consultants, many of whom have honorary senior lecturer contracts with the University of Liverpool. It is one of the top 20 teaching trusts in the country with well established links to both the University of Liverpool and John Moores University.   Tony was appointed in 2007. He joined the Trust from the Royal Liverpool Children’s NHS Trust where he had been Chief Executive since 2000. He has 30 years NHS experience having originally trained as a registered general nurse. He has worked at all levels of  management and has held executive director positions at acute trust and health authority levels.

He has previous experience of working with the Department of Health and Government ministers and was awarded the OBE for services to health care in 1996. Tony is a member of the Association of UK University Hospitals and the North West Academy Board.
